  3. 1.1 Adding the CD-ROM to a configuration with one IDE Hard Disk
  4.  
  5. Set DR-UA124X, DR-UP, DR-A10X / DR-411 to SL(Slave mode) by setting a 
  6. jumper on the rear side. Make surethe Hard Disk is set to IDE Master 
  7. mode(Check your Hard Disk's documentation for details).
  8.  
  9. 1.2 CD-ROM only connection to IDE card
  10.  
  11. MA(Master mode) or SL(Slave mode) are both valid settings.
  12.  
  13. 2.1 MS-DOS
  14.  
  15. If your OS is MS-DOS ( or IBM PC-DOS) , then perform the following  steps :
  16.  
  17. 2.1.1 copy from Floppy disk
  18.  
  19. Copy the file ATAPI_CD.SYS to your Hard disk.
  20.  
  21. 2.1.2 Modify CONFIG.SYS 
  22.       
  23. After Connecting the CD-ROM drive and copying the device driver  to the Hard
  24. Disk, add the following line to CONFIG.SYS :
  25.  
  26.        DEVICE=C:\ATAPI_CD.SYS
  27.        LASTDRIVE=Z
  28.  
  29. Valid options for this device driver are listed below. In most cases however,
  30. you don't need to specify any options. In case no options are specified, the 
  31. driver will search for the DR-A10X / DR-411 automatically. If the device driver
  32. loads successfully but the CD-ROM can't be accessed, you must specify the 
  33. LASTDRIVE line in CONFIG.SYS.

  35. Setting device driver options :
  36.  e.g. :
  37.     DEVICE=C:\ATAPI_CD.SYS /S:1 /D:MSCD001
  38.  
  39. [Option]
  40.     /S:x   ------> CD-ROM Drive ID.
  41.  
  42. This determines the setting of the drive to Master or Slave and the connection
  43. to the Primary or Secondary IDE channel.
  44.  
  45.     x =     0: Master Drive on Primary IDE Channel
  46.         1: Slave Drive on Primary IDE Channel
  47.         2: Master Drive on Secondary IDE Channel
  48.         3: Slave Drive on Secondary IDE Channel
  49.  
  50.     /D: *******    -->    CD-ROM Device name
  51.         e.g.:   /D:PIONEER
  52.     If you do not specify this option, a default CD-ROM Device name is used : "MSCD001".
  53.     In case you copied the device driver to a sub-directory, specify the FULL
  54.     PATH name in the "DEVICE=..... " line in CONFIG.SYS.

  56. 2.1.3  Modify AUTOEXEC.BAT
  57.  
  58. Add  the following line to AUTOEXEC.BAT.
  59.  e.g. :   MSCDEX.EXE  /D:PIONEER
  60.  
  61. Make sure the  CD-ROM Device name is same as in CONFIG.SYS : "/D : PIONEER". 
  62. (In case you didn't specify this option in CONFIG.SYS, specify : "/D:MSCD001")
  63.  
  64. 2.2 MS-Windows Ver3.xx (Ver 3.1,Ver 3.11,for Workgroup)
  65.  
  66. In case the DR-UA124X, DR-UP124X, DR-A10X / DR-411 is connected to the 
  67. Primary IDE Channel andthe IDE Hard Disk is set to Master mode, 
  68. the 32bitDiskAccess parameter in the Windows SYSTEM.INI file should 
  69. set to OFF.

  71. This can be achieved in two ways : 
  72.  
  73. Double-click Control Panels, then double-click 386Enhanced and uncheck
  74. the 32bitDiskAccess checkbox. Click OK and restart.
  75.  
  76. Experienced users can edit the SYSTEM.INI file in the  Windows directory :
  77.           32bitDiskAccess=OFF
  78.  
  79. 2.3 Windows NT (Upper Ver3.5)
  80.  
  81. After connecting the DR-UP124X, DR-A10X or DR-411 to the primary 
  82. IDE Channel in Slave mode, install Windows NT. then the CD-ROM drive 
  83. will be automatically recognised.

  85. If you are adding the DR-UP124X / DR-A10X / DR-411 to an existing 
  86. Windows NT installation, refer to the Windows NT documentation. 
  87. (The DR-UP124X / DR-A10X / DR-411 can be installed as ATAPI device)

  89. 2.4 OS/2 Warp (Upper Ver3.0)
  90.  
  91. After connecting the DR-UP124X / DR-A10X / DR-411 to the 
  92. primary IDE Channel in Slave mode, install OS/2 Warp and choose 
  93. "Other IDE CD-ROM" from the CD-ROM Device list.

  96. 2.5. Windows95
  97.  
  98. After connecting the DR-UP124X / DR-A10X / DR-411 to the primary 
  99. or secondary IDE channel, and then you should refer to the 
  100. section 2.1 and install the (MS-)DOS device driver (ATAPI_CD.SYS).

  102. If you are adding the DR-UP 124X / DR-A10X / DR-411 to an 
  103. existing Windows95, the DR-A10X / DR-411 can be automatically recognized.
  104.  
  105. If you are adding the DR-UA124X to Windows95, you must load the driver
  106. ATAPI_DC.SYS to your config.sys file.  Follow the instructions DOS installation.  
  107. You mus also midify your autoexec.bat.
  108.  
  109. Add:  C:\Windows\Command\Mscdex.exe /D:xxxxxxx  
  110. Where xxxxxxx = the name assigned to the driver in your config.sys
  111.
